Lurker awakened !

Hi all,

As you can see from my join date I 'm an ultra long time lurker,
read these forums a lot a while back then forgot about them (yes until the chavUKdeals thread)

Greatly into raspberry Pi, and have several - not just used as boring XBMC boxes either !

Wifi webcam - sends me a local email pic when someone comes to the door
have another pi running mail/fileserver duties
and robotics
Yet another pi is a downloader box.

Always finding more uses for the little 2W PCs

Not sure I could spend a lot of my time doing it via the pi though, I may have to look for a ready made one as I've never even bothered getting a pi lol.

Presumably motion detection?

Can you help me get started on this? Im a pi novice so could you hook me up with what to buy and an iso for the sd card and instruction on how to configure?

On a basic level its actually pretty simple, as its a feature of "motion" software.
"sudo apt-get install motion" will download and install it.

You just need Pi, compatible USB webcam (or the Pi camera) and wifi dongle.

Maybe a fulll writeup in the raspi section?
