Nokia 6700 slide Unlock

My dad is looking to get one of his old phones, 6700 slide unlocked from O2, to use a 3 payg sim in it.

I know that the free unlock codes are not applicable to the db5 handsets, but wondered if there were any free or cheap solutions out there now?

First, check that the 3 sim is actually compatible. The newer sims from 3 have a habit of not working in older generation phones. Then contact the network your dad had the 6700 on. Chances are , given it's age, he may have completed his contract/or spent enough over time running it in the case of a pay as you go, and be entitled to a free unlock. In the case of a bill phone have all the relevant information(or your dad). The ready to go would usually have to have been registered when bought for the network to unlock it.

6700 were one of the earlier/mid generation bb5's. Make sure the slider ribbon is in good condition before you spend any time/effort or money on it. Hope this helps.
