Xbox 360 Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero are free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers

Undead hunters, please prime your snowball cannons and warm up your wheelchair tanks. Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero are now free to download from Xbox Live, providing you're an Xbox Live Gold subscriber. That's true of the UK, anyway - as always, the game may not be available in your particular timezone till a little later. New to Dead Rising 2? Well, the gist is that you're stuck in a mall so large it's also a supercasino and a theme park, accompanied by your latently zombified daughter, various raggedy and inconveniently well-spread survivors, a handful of psychopaths (read: bosses) and a limitless supply of the walking dead.

Fortunately, this game caters well to budding inventors. Most items can be combined with other items at workbenches to create ludicrous weapons, such as RC helicopters with explosives attached to them. Don't spend too long tinkering, however, as the game's strict about time-keeping - you may miss out on missions and thus, opportunities to rescue survivors and collect more medicine for your daughter.

I wouldn't call it an open world classic, but it's certainly one of the best on Xbox 360. The spin-off, Case Zero, takes place in a desert town shortly before the events of the main game - consider it a warm-up.

saw a video on xbl yesterday, looks good and very hard, zombie policemen who remember how to use guns, college footballers who chase you down and tackle you to the floor. The part I thought was pretty good is the kinect is used so if you say "over here" the zombies react and come chasing.

I did give it a go last night but really not for me, couldn't get a co-op game going apart from the mini challenge thing which was amusing for about 5 mins, single player game wasn't great either and they used the 'go to a save room' feature which I don't like.

Really is about time Microsoft stepped up and offered free games on a par with the ones Sony gives away if they are serious about leveling this aspect of consoles imho

yeah, the save game is a pain in the ass, times you think i'll just complete this part then travel to a save room and save it, and fail, This actually stops me coming back to the game as I get pissed off doing the same part over and over and put something else on.

You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

I think what I'm struggling with is the issues on getting into a co-op with Bald Bouncer. - Any tips? - the options to join just don't seem to be there for us.

Can you play other games online fine?

Try putting your xbox in the DMZ on your router just to test it isn't a port / firewall issue.

I've been having problems too - my son can't see me as being online when in the game! He can still select me from his friends list and send an invite to game. This works. Played it a bit on co-op but it's actually more fun single player imo
