Limited period access to VIP for non long-standing members to evaluate before sub's

I am not sure how easy this might be.

I see there is a VIP section
I know you need to be a fee paying subscriber to benefit

What I do not know is if the content would be worth it to me.

I wonder, if anything can be done (script wise), for 2 or three times a year, non VIP members with either a certain amount of posts or time joined on the board could look in. Disable posting/replying/gaining access to links perhaps, but a look into the areas?

Well personally i feel that paying the subscription is worthwhile on its own as I get alot of information from the site anyway

The VIP sections provide more of the same - useful information, the best way to find out is try it out by paying, do it for 1 year, then you have contributed to the forums upkeep (which cant be cheap) and you will get a full year to try out the VIP section and see the benefits, then if you dont like it just dont renew it next year

just an idea as i have no idea if a trial period is possible

VIP benefits us all as it helps Raptor who largely subsidises the board and keeps it open, if you want VIP for what you might be able to get out of it I suspect it's not for you.

To be fair, that's not a bad shout and I see the argument.

I am very prudish with my money. I am very keen to know I am getting value for money. Especailly these days as money is less and not going as far as I feel I remember is used to.

I'd like to know if the above is feasible or possible. But I take your suggestion on board.

While, being a long term member and most certainly, gaining a lot from these boards over the years and I hope contributing as well, if we could do this, it might also get more through the door.

Twenty five quid is a no brainer for me.. and I never really use any VIP benefits except maybe the BST once in a while.. I don't even visit the VIP only section..

I was not looking to cause any issues here but you are replying as if i am having a go, it is a suggestion, just that.

If i cant be done, or the person deciding does not want to do it, thats ok, I dont have any issues on that. Suggestion put forward and whatever comes of it, at least its out there.

It could be done but won't be done, the VIP area is just a way of people showing support financially for the forum and I am fairly sure most people become or renew VIP to help support a forum they love and it's longevity rather than for the access to additional areas and to sell in BST, blaggard is really just making that point and it is totally a choice for individuals so if anyone expects to find something that can't be found elsewhere on the internet in the VIP area they would be disappointed.
