I am a contractor, working in IT since mid 90s, First 4-5 as a permie, last 14-15 odd as a contractor. Always been covered just incase as you never know, especially going straight into a company and shit hitting the fan on day one, not even time to grab a coffee, dont know the infrastructure and pressure on to sort the issues out.Not knowing the local setup/infrastructure means you are more susceptible to drop a clanger, with that in mind cover is a must. in 15 odd years as a contractor only 2 agencies have asked me do i have cover and the contract stated it must be coverage of a million or more.
The cheapest I have found in our remit is hiscox and the premium is minimal. HTH

My little sister works in PR (not IT but her old firm also used Hiscox).
Anyway one day she's tentatively booked a Z list celebrity (gone through all the motions but stopped short of signing and returning contract). Then she finds out her client has pulled the plug on the mini project she was going to use the celeb for so that fell through. Then Z list's manager starts going crazy demanding money - I reviewed the situation and told my sister to tell them literally to fuck off.
I have no idea exactly what happened next because my sister explains the situation to her big boss who then got Hiscox to pay out.
Normally my experience of insurance companies is that they will do their best to avoid paying genuine claims while these nutters paid out when there was no valid reason to do so.
Strange. Do you have any other suggestions?

I wasn't saying that's a bad thing, it's a fucking amazing thing!
Normally insurance never want to pay out even when they are obliged to. That time they had no reason to pay out but they still did!
