    Retro Sega Saturn

Just dug out my Saturn from the loft. I packed it up there back in 99. Ive played my old favorites , Daytona, Sega rally, Destruction derby Fifa 96. But I couldnt play virtua cop!! The gun don't work on my TV lol. I forgot back then the tv's were not LCD or HD. Also the games were giving me a headache. Those graphic are shocking now lol. Still it was a good console back then.

I think the Saturn has been the only console since I was born in 84 that I've not owned or even played.

Soul caliber and some fishing game, great times. I remember my mates one came with the longest Ethernet cable I had ever seen and when you connected to the net it made a noise like a cow mooing

I bought the Saturn due to sega rally which kept me entertained for ages, but was gutted when I saw my mates PS1 and how much better games like tomb raider were on it, and Wipeout made me realise I'd bought the wrong console.

One of my old flatmates had a Saturn and we used to have an absolute blast playing it. Virtua Tennis! The Fishing Game and there were a ton weird Jap games you could get too!

I was a saturn diehard in the day. I refused to bow down and follow the herd who were all buying the playstation based on nothing but Sonys viral marketting, but back in the early days the saturn had a far stronger catalogue of games. I didnt want tombraider or wipeout, I wanted streetfighter, sega rally, virtua fighter and guardian heroes and they were exclusive, or far better on the saturn.

That era didnt last so long though, when FF7 came out it was obvious it was time to follow the crowd.

I sold my old Saturn earlier this year and thanks to the region hacks and other stuff I added to it, it went for 60quid, unlike the unused PSone I had to sell which I literally couldn't give away.

Heh I bought a Saturn again recently, with an Action Replay to boot jap games. I've been hammering it for 2d Fighters and Shooters.

Really need to sort the cellar out to be a 'games room'.

Got the SNES, got the N64, waiting for the Retron 5 to come out but the Dreamcast and Saturn are also on the list.
Had a Dreamcast and loved it, never had the Saturn like many peeps. The PS1 pissed on it for wow factor at launch but then the Saturn had fantastic games where as the PS1 had 1 million games the most been play once and forget. Yes the PS1 had fantastic titles too but Sega produced games better.

    Scanning eBay now!

I've got a Dreamcast setup as well, with a couple of arcade sticks as again I'm mostly just playing 2d fighters and shooters.

I'm probably going to add a Retron 5, once it's out and reviews start happening.

I think it is a purchase without the reviews for me, unless they units start dying or destroying carts.
I am interested to know if it will ever be hacked/jailbroken to play other formats as it is just emulation. Having one box that takes carts, plays mame all in one tidy box that also uses original controllers and is not a desktop PC is something I would really like to see.

It still sounds a bit too good to be true. Places taking pre-orders ages before there is any real sign of the hardware isn't necessarily a good thing. For me there is too much to go wrong so I'll wait.

The latest is 10th December releases. I had one on Pre-Order but they took the £90 straight out of my account!
With the previous delays etc I asked for a refund and to cancel the pre-order. I will go back to them (funstock) as they said they were getting more than just the pre-order stock in, unless Amazon UK decide to stock it and that would be a safer option for me.
