Can you get freesat on the vu plus boxes ?

This may be a bit of a stupid question but wondering if it is possible to connect a vu + box to get freesat out of the box or do you have to buy an add on to get freesat? I am not talking about anything dodgy here just the ability to see if its possible to get freesat using one of these boxes and then be able to record it using the vu plus box. I am thinking either solo 2 or duo original? If its not possible with these boxes are any of the others able to do this and if so whats the best method to do that. Was looking at the humax pvr 1010 but really dont like the white colour so looking at alternate options.

Yes mate, when you do a scan on astra satellite you can set it to FTA(Free to air) so you don't get the scrambled channels.

I'm hoping to pick up a 2nd hand VU+ Duo or similar for freesat, but they don't seem to have been dropped by owners yet like I'd imagined. This must prove they do a decent job compared to a Humax equivalent

The VU+ range have a log of extra functionality (USB tuners, hard drive, HBB TV, IPTV) so I don't think the prices will be coming down any time soon, I've an Ultimo and a Solo2 and will be picking up a Duo this week, they are (imo) the best boxes out there.

i recently bought a gigablue hd quad
i have to say its fantastic - slapped in a 1tb laptop hdd and it does loads more than i ever expected, im massively impressed

They work well as a FTA box and movie streaming device. I bought mine from China for about £80 delivered.

get a skybox f5s, perfect freesat box, ive set one up downstairs for the missus to watch her true movies
