Info Sky v Virgin Media TV Service

    Hi All

I have been with Sky for 10+ years have 4 Sky HD boxes with the full package (movies, sports) and currently pay around £90-£100 per month for the TV, I also pay Virgin Media around £25-£30 for Broadband (100MB) and phone line as well as paying £20 for BT Sport.

I have been offered a deal to move to Virgin Media for £105 for all services for 9 months and then it will increase to £140.

Can i get some feedback from users of Virgin TV in regards to the service, interface of TIVO and would it be a good switch or not.

Never really had any issues with Sky over the 10+ years from a service perspective and love the whole look of the TV service and concerned i am going to regret it over £40-£50.

I also wanted to take out Sky Q but am not willing to pay £400 for installation and with Virgin announcing the V6 4K TV box it might be time to move.

Thnx In Advance and hope all of the above makes sense :-)

was with Sky 15 years ago, moved to ComCast/ NTL/ who is Now Virgin, had the works since then, got a bit pricey as time went on, now only 200mbs Broadband
never really had any issues with them, maybe web down 3-4 times over the whole time, at least with them i get what i pay for, i get the full 200mbs not
like bt and the like, small print says upto 36mbs ??,most of the time you get a lot less.

Compared to my parents sky box my TiVo is like something from the 80s. You press a button and it starts to think. Loading iPlayer took 4 minutes last night. Don't get me started in the noises it makes (at least they can be turned off). The internet is what we really pay for. Our 200 meg line doesn't usually drop at all (most of sonar couch potato downloading happens at night).

Have you told sky what you've been offered so that they can counter-offer?

    Thanks to Mule

My experience when I moved to virgin from sky was a poor one. I was glad when I moved that virgin didn't cover the area so I could get out of contract and move back to Sky.

Don't have either now, but if I was to chose one it would be Sky.

    Thanks to piggzy

Virgin is all about Broadband to be honest.

With TV, Virgin has a more stable picture during bad weather - you get less of the blocky interference. The big downside though is that user interface of the TiVO is from the stone age - it takes forever to get anything done. As for trying to use netflix, or iplayer, forget it.

You also can't get Sky Atlantic, so if you want to watch Game of Thrones or Westworld, you'll need a NowTV subscription.

Overall though, despite the disadvantages of the TV, I find VM to be a country mile ahead of Sky

    Thanks to flumperino

Sky can kiss my arse!!! I was a premium subscriber for over 20 years and when I cancelled they offered me fuck all!! And they haven't rung me once in 8 months! I'll continue to get my tv elsewhere! Cunts!
