Do the boxes only work with Sky broadband?

im not 100% sure m8, they are brilliant for what we need it for, a mate of mine has got one set up (I set it up for him) and its working perfectly over wifi

we just need to scour ebay and the net to find a product similar that does not rely on sky alone

for the more technical df members, would this work? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HUAWEI-WS3...p2054897.l4276

just plug it into a socket near ur skybox and then connect an Ethernet cable to it, connect the other end of the cable to your skybox and jobs a good one

The proper skybox wifi dongles are a piece of crap and simply DO NOT WORK, do not waste your money on them.
it might be worth trying the plug above, it will get rid of loads of wires and let you have the boxes in multiple rooms

I tried to get one from that link but it wouldn't let me.

Are you using it with a Skybox mate?

Does it work with non-Sky broadband suppliers? (can't see why it would not)

As I mentioned in the other thread I am already using a wireless ethernet bridge from World of Satellite

    http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/...dge-WIFI-W150M

I have one working on a Sky HD box and a Skybox F3....they work fine!!!

It works with any Internet supplier.

Theres only few quid in it anyway m8....I bought the Tenda ones before the Sky ones were ever available.

I bought them for my Vu+ Duo when my router was in another room.....it worked for that too!

For Detectors question though they work 100% with my F3 box.

I have added the pdf file of the setup so people can check before ordering one if they want.

Is there any other benefit other than having it wireless?

My router is next to my F5 anyway, doesn't bother me having a cable, any other reasons I should look to get one?

If you want a wireless bridge a cheapo router capable of running dd-wrt or openwrt will do, it'll give you 4 ports too.

my mate uses homeplugs mini adapters that plug into the mains sockets. he has linked his computer upstairs to his box downstairs. he can stream all his stuff from his computer to his tv. although it still requires ethernet cables at either end, at least they are short ones and he doesnt have cables running all over the place

I've got a tenda w150 too and think its great as people have said.

Has anyone managed to get it working with a Openbox? My old man has one and I could give it to him.
