problem i have is that as i get older i play less and less games so spending £200+ on a console just doesnt do it for me anymore, i know the price i am after is a long way off but im in no rush to get it so will happily wait, it will be a long time before i invest in either a PS4 or an XBone again due to the price, 360 and original Wii are keeping me and the mrs happy

And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

I know what you mean, especially having a little one. But I am confident, this will come back and my investment will be worthwhile.

    I wait, in anticipation!

Gah can't resist any longer just ordered the Mario mega bundle from Nintendo - seems a really good deal for £300 it includes:

The Mario Mega Bundle includes the Wii U Premium pack, SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD, New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, a Mario hat and a Mario Wii Remote Plus.
The hat and the Mario wii remote plus sold it for me

    Thanks to prezzy

if Nintendo were to release a good 2d Mario title every year at xmas they would never have financial problems ever again. I bought a launch wii u simply for Mario u which was brilliant, ive never been a fan of the 3d Mario titles, too frustrating for me and detract from the enjoyment. I love the new donkey kong series and 2d Mario and for these 2 games alone is worth it. plus Nintendo have done the right thing and made games backwards compatible so we can play our old Mario too, we can even use our old Nintendo wii pads saving us money. the wii u is a fantastic little gaming machine for the kids and even bigger kids too. but Nintendo have proper fucked up by not releasing a new 2d Mario every year.

Well im having to eat my own words, the Mrs decided (after seeing a Wii U at my friends house that its not overpriced and we should get one) so we did, got the Mario Bundle with New Super Mario Bros. and the Luigi Bros. game on the same disc, then went out and purchased Super Mario 3D World and Zombi U, now have just ordered resident evil revelations and a barnyard game for when the nephew is round

my overall impression of the Wii U so far? - the OS and general use of the software absolutely sucks - download times, how slow it is accessing the eshop, demos that have a limited number of plays - absolute shite - However the games are loads of fun and way more entertaining than my usual 360 games - so very happy with the purchase its just the system software that is bugging me

Really glad I got one - have all my wii stuff working from external hard drive same as on the wii
Super Mario 3D world is quality - also got Zelda Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3 and ZombiU all of which are very good - not tried new super mario / luigi bros games yet

As above the UI, online shop etc are shit but the games more than make up for that

I'm going to wait for the inevitable fall in price over the next couple of months. Then I will replace my Wii for the Wii-U.

I would advise against buying ninty hardware at this moment in time. Nintendo have announced much larger than expected loses so I suspect some sort of decent promotion and/or price drop to kick in soon.

Thats the spirit! Only buy the console when its on its knees!

I dont think the situation is quite so straight forward though as this generation nintendo are (or atleast were) selling hardware at a slight loss instead of profiting straight off the bat. Further cuts in the price rarely make a permanent difference to sales so they would be better off marketting and investing in the machine rather than just hacking down the price.

doesnt really make any odds to me anyway as ill be buying via inflated importers anyroad
