Didn't realise the WiiU had been hacked, shows how much attention I pay these days! Presumably this means that the loaders can run any wii (not wiiU) games that are currently played off external HD? If the nipper could keep his existing game it might be worth buying him one for the newer mario stuff but don't want yet another box

    ..price drops.

    http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/now-a...to-180/0126982

A second retailer has significantly cut its Wii U asking price.
After Argos this morning cut the Wii U Premium Nintendo Land bundle to £179.99, Amazon has now gone ahead and price matched the deal.
Amazon routinely does this, of course, having matched various £199.99 Wii U bundles and even (for a short time at least) Tesco’s £135 3DS XL deal in the run up to Christmas.
Other bundles such as the Super Mario Bros U and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker bundles are currently going for £239.99.

sale, maybe clearance sale but not an official price cut. Still, not a good sign.

Nah they will survive. I believe they are sitting on a vast fortune of around $10 billion so more than enough to get it right next time round.

$10 billion would be a nice buffer to have.

If they released the classic Mario games on iOS I'd buy them in a heartbeat - I understand they want to keep their stuff on their own hardware but they'd make so much more money from ports!

I've still got a GameCube hiding away at my folks- will have to dog it out for a play!

Future is looking bleak with so many developers now deciding not to have a Wii U version of the game they release and news below does not instill confidence in the longevity of the product.

Wii U owners won't be getting the upcoming Arkham Origins story campaign DLC, after Warner Bros. made the decision to cancel it due to a lack of demand. WB confirmed the news in a statement given to VG247, after GoNintendo published a supposed Nintendo of America email spilling the bat-beans. The Nintendo system and the latest Batman haven't been a dynamic duo, starting with WB not bringing multiplayer to the Wii U version for similarly quantitative reasons. WB's belated call to not give the Wii U further single-player content is curious, especially since there's other DLC from the game on the eShop, such as skins and challenge packs.

The one ray of good in today's news is that, going by the email published by GoNintendo, Nintendo of America is issuing a full refund to those who bought the season pass, despite some of the DLC it covers already being out. Whether that decision is WB's or Nintendo's, it is at least the right one.

Very sad. Odd that so many companies are choosing to abandon Ninty. The sales figures for the hardware must be terrible to not even consider releasing titles like this - although vgchartz lists the WiiU sales as much more than XB1 or PS4... http://www.vgchartz.com/

hardware sales are not the only issue. Nintendo openly stated that the wii wasn't the success it was perceived to be as it had such a low software to hardware sales ratio. They succeeded in making a system that appealed to a wide market, but far too many of them were happy with wii sports and little else. I presume many of the current WiiU's that have sold as sat collecting dust, with no software being bought for them.

To be fair, as a hardened Nintendite, I tolled up the system and what games I wanted and it was just 4 games. For a system on the market for over a year, that aint great and reminds me of the cube era.

well i have been pleasantly surprised by my Wii U, got a few games so far:

New Super Mario Bros U - great game, loads of fun
New Super Luigi U -not so good as the Mario one but still good
Super Mario 3D World - another brilliant game, hard to put down
Funky Barn - So embarrassed but have done this game to death, cost me £8 and its for 4 year olds - but fuck me i promise you now - no farm is run more efficiently that mine!
Resident Evil Revelations - Good game, very old school Resident Evil
Zombi U - not a massive fan to be honest but was ok

to be honest i just love the system because its just based around games and it does them very well, the tablet controller which i through was a bit of a mistake really comes into its own once you have played it for a while, adds some extra fun to some games (or just helps to do stuff better/quicker) and also can double up as a TV screen on some games (like Mario) so the Mrs or me can play whilst the other watches shit on TV.

Its sad to think that the Wii U aint selling very well when its actually a fun and very good console, i guess the proper game crowd want a PS4 or XBone and the rest of the people who bought a Wii etc. just couldnt give a fuck about any of them
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.
