Default Nintendo have done it again...

Like with the Wii, because the games are finally looking good and there's a handful of decent titles (unlike the other recent launches), I feel like a NEED a Wii U.

Mario World 3D looks great but I have to wonder is it worth buying a console for 4/5 games? Saying that I've just bought an Xbox with little to nothing to play on it!

I just can't forget how much I resent buying a Wii originally.

Anyone else buying one now for Mario?

I bought one soon after launch in anticipation for a handful of games.
Mario Kart 8, Mario 3D World and a new Zelda at some point being the main ones I can think of. I'm sure they'll be 1 or 2 more gems in the future too.

I'll be getting one soon now the big first party games are being released, i was sort of hoping for a special edition console too.

I cant see the big releases swaying the masses though, it'll be nintendo fans and the younger generation ala gamecube.

i bought my Wii U a while ago and i must say i am very satisfied , there are quite a few games that are really good.
i myself like playing monster hunter 3 ultimate ( racked up 162 hours so far) , however when the friends are round nintendo land is the winner.
also when im having a few brews with my friend we play zombiU as it is such a rediculously fun game to play - the person using the wii tablet is the zombie lord spawning zombies on the map and the survivor uses the wii pro pad and the tv to escape/ kill the zombies.
i also bought marvel battle for earth which encorporates the wii pad to actually perform moves .

next ones to buy will deffo be luigi mario bro and the 3d mario

Its on my list, someone better check it twice and get me the right pack!

Japanese sales point to serious declines for Final Fantasy and 3D Mario

It’s not often that a pair of games topping the charts brings bad news for their respective publishers.
PS3 title Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Wii U platformer Super Mario 3D World entered the weekly Japanese charts in first and second spots today, but both point to serious declines for their brands.
Gematsu points out that FF XIII enjoyed week one unit sales of 1.5m units. FF XIII-2 debuted with 605k. Lightning Returns managed just 277k.
Super Mario 3D World, which is adored by critics, managed just 99,588 units in its debut week – the lowest week one sales for a 3D Mario title ever on any platform.
Mario’s latest outing did little to help Wii U sales, either, which climbed just 5k week-on-week to 21k and were 42 units short of Vita.
The news is a blow to those who thought that the arrival of Nintendo’s powerhouse IPs would provide a much-needed boost for the struggling machine. It will be interesting to see if the European release this Friday has a more positive effect.

I am not sure they will before Crimbo, but with the new ones out and despite the extra costs, any price cut will be mid ot end of Feb. As they will also want anyone with vouchers to pick up packs at as much as top cost as possible.

£199 is the cheapest I have heard of, is this the only place doing this? £229 was previously the cheapest and that was a decent bundle as well.

The £229 had a set of games. Much better value.

Knowing Nintendo, they normally start to do bundle packs initially and throttle the sole console pack. I am hoping for a £179 starter for the 32gb.

All this said, Nintendo is one company I really do not want to see Follow Sega!

indeed , i like nintendo consoles i own the original wii , 3ds and the wii u.
i think the biggest down fall of the wii u is the lack of games and advertising.

i hope a big push on this console is coming i would love to see a lot more good titles and exclusives

I hate to say it, but I do not think that will happen. There may be a big push, but it will be a slow moving release schedule. Many big houses will be concentrating on getting revenue on the Box and Station.

How much of a price drop are you expecting? Its only going to be 20 or 30 quid if anything, the RRP is already being undercut. Even if the price dropped 50 quid, it wouldnt be make or break for me. Maybe for a penny watching mother but surely the price is low enough for the typical DFer already.

200 quid for the console, even if you only buy 5 games in its life span seems like a bargain to me.

i really want a wii u to play a couple of mario games but not getting one til they have the premium for around £149.99 with a game or two, its just not worth it for me
You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

If I had not spent so much on the Wii I might agree, but its more a visual add on for me, I find it hard to see as a new ground designed up console.
