as mac says, the cost of a cs sub/line is pennies compared to hundreds of pounds with sky. if sky reduced their subs to a reasonable level no one would cs, and just about everyone would gladly pay to sky. but when their subs break £100 a month it starts to take the piss.

If it was £25-30 a month for everything.

i wonder if the millions more that would subscribe, would net the same ammount of profit as they do now.

Does Fox not own 40% of BSkyB? Slightly more than a 'few shares'.

    It's all cat and mouse... 0ndig1tal, db0x2, F5 box.

The reason people use illegal methods to view tv is because what they want to view has been heavily invested in by co.'s such as Sky.

Sure Bskyb will shut down illegal content whenever possible, just as people will try to view content as cheap as possible.

My take...it's all is fair in love and war.

If it wasn't for Investment in sport we'd still be watching Dickie Davies coming in his pants because Big Daddy is 'wrestling' Giant Haystacks at the Plymouth 'bloody' Guildhall on a Saturday afternoon.

ive always said, those that can afford it will buy it from the genuine source - wether it be sky, xbox, ps4 etc but those that cannot afford £100+ per month for a handful of decent channels and those that cannot afford £70 per game will always try to get them cheaper. they would not have bought them anyway because they cannot afford it, so the companies are not losing out. there are quite a few people who could afford it and choose to go the illegal route - in this way the companies will lose out.

Some people are working 2/3 jobs just to pay the bloody bills, mortgage, electric, gas, food etc and whats left is shrinking day by day.
it costs Microsoft and playstation around 12p or less to press and make a game, I understand that the devs have to get paid or the game would not exist but £70 for a game - or £64 for a digital download is even worse.
Same with sky, £100+ per month is ridiculous and they only do this because they have a basic monopoly. if they reduced the price tomorrow down to £30 per month for everything I think the whole cs market would collapse.

Please don't take my comments to heart all said in jest.

All I'm trying to say is if you ran a company and people was ripping your business off I would not be happy and Sky after all is a subscription service and if you can't afford it don't have it.

Sky put millions into there programming and who benefits you the subscriber and if Sky didn't charge what they do that would be lost revenue and no money profits to keep you the subscriber happy.

You will never keep everyone happy and there will always be so someone out there that wants to rip you off and then have the cheek to say the company they are ripping off is expensive.

    Regards.

    Hi
Sky would not be able to charge so much for its package if it were not a monopoly situation with no real competition, Deals were done with past governments to enable this in return for certain media to change its support. By real competition I mean competition that doesnt need to rely of on sky for delivery. Previous attempts to break this monopoly driven out of of business by using the very people that are now doing C/S, the same sort of people who now sky/NDS are trying to eliminate are the people that they not only encouraged they also assisted, financed and trained to drive their competition out of business.
I am sure you are aware that elsewhere in europe you would buy your own receiver and get a CAM/CARD from the provider , of which in each country there would be a choice of 4-6 providers, although sky are worked similar tactics with Premier/Kirsch sky Germany and Sky Italy.
sorry about rant but the poor us act from sky just doesnt wash with me, they are tw@ts
