Default Help & Advice Needed. Vu+Solo

    Hi All.
looking for some advice before a Buy,
just seen a VU+Solo online for £78.00 Approx as it's in US dollars & wondering if this is a good buy or not,
Am using the skybox F5s at the moment, but fancy changing to the VU, not that i have any knowledge of them, but willing to learn.
it says it's Enigma 2 & not sure if it's a Clone, but at that price i would think it could be
I have a 90cm Dish, Stab HH90 Motor that i first setup with my Technomate 1500ci Super, but now use the F5s
would i also need a Linux based PC or laptop if i did buy, Linux all new to me & any Help from the people who know is appreciated.
    thanks

For 78 is deffo a clone!

No linux based PC/ lappy needed everything you need can be done over a windows SMB network.

Firmware updated by USB similar to the F5 box

Best forum for reading up on them is here.

    Hi all.
just an update to say that i went ahead & bought a Vu Solo Clone.
I must agree it is a better box than the F5s
I am running VIX 3.802 image, but because it is a clone cannot update to newer Images
Now i wish in a way i had just bought the Original VU
Will stick with it for the time being & see what happens over the next few months

What is the build quality of the Solo clones like? Quality of PSU? Is it a cheap chinese one that is likely to explode?

I am looking for a box for freesat. That I can send the picture around the house on the LAN.

I bought my dad a clone VU Solo and think it works great no problems, The VIX 3.802 image is fine too.

Ideally if you can afford it a real one would be worth it just for the support offered via worldofsattelite.

    Thanks to Ashley
