acquired an early one with knackered drive, same symptoms fast fans, this time managed to remove the two heatspreaders using the pre heater set at 90 and a tool made from my girls hair slides bent and the end wet and dried to get rid of any sharp corners and make it sharper, pic to follow, made from spring steel so quite tough too.

Here's my tool (snigger) one of them hair clips bent at the end with the edge wet and dried to give it a sharpish edge, and with its rounded corners shouldn't cause much damage along the way.

    That tool Ted is genius!

If I can find away to get this RSX off, I'll post it. If not, I'll send the whole board for you to break.

Just bagged one for 17 squids, reflowed and got fw 3.11 on it. :-D
Got to get some more heatsink compound ran out. my little tool worked with no damage, the heat spreader on the rsx wasn't stuck like the others though.

Yes eBay, some one local, warranty seal intact, part of a load he was splitting, untested due to ylod with no hd. Very lucky.
