Stupid Windows 8 questions upgrade from xp

Yes I'm in the dark ages and still running xp pro!


All I know about my pc is it runs xp fine and has 2gb of ram and dual core CPU E226 I think.
now I don't have any knowledge in win 8 whatsoever so be gentle with me.
how do I begin looking to download an ISO file if I can ? and activate it permanently.

Sounds stupid but I have no idea and all the stickies haven't been updated in a while so unsure what the latest tools etc are.

will my pc run win 8?
is it worth it as win 7 run like a bag of shit a year or so ago on this system.
i only use the pc for burning CDs and syncing iTunes and the odd key recovery.
other than that I use my ipad for everything.

maybe someone could help me with everything ready to go ?

Any reason why you want to upgrade? If you only use it for those purposes you could disconnect from the internet to stay safe from 0day exploits once xp support ends. If win 7 ran poorly then I'd expect win 8 to too.

The kids use it for homework as they need to connect to a remote server to access theory school account where the work is stored.

so upgrade time or just keep my AV up to date then lol.

i use torrents and they aren't great for ms stuff.

I can help you get Windows 8 quite simply, but going from XP straight to 8 is huge jump!

You backed up and sure you want too? I think it's the CPU that was the bottle neck when you tried 7. Windows 8 should be better, but not by loads.
