TomTom GO 720 - UK Truck map issue

Hi guys,

I've had a TomTom Go 720 for quite a while now running UK truck maps.

Recently it has started coming up with the message on boot saying "Tomtom cannot use this map with this device"

Can anyone help on how to solve this issue? - I suspect someone accepted updates whilst using it

Its been a year or two since I have touched the software on the Tomtom so cannot really remember, I've googled a fair bit but it is difficult to find any basic info.

So I am assuming it must be possible to update or get a bog standard UK&I (not truck) map working on the device?

Have you plugged it in recently? Maybe its done a navcore update and now the map is not recognised...

No it hasnt been plugged in, apparently my brother did a soft reset and its stopped working as a result.

I'm now looking to get the bog standard UK&I map (not trucking) on it, what would be the fastest way to get it up and running?

What version of Navcore have you got on it ?
What is the map version number ?
You could just try using the activation tool & try patching the ttsystem file & / or activating the map again.
The two latest UK & RoI maps are both posted on the forum - just use the one that is suitable for your navcore & again use the activation tool. There is a guide posted on the forum if you have problems. If still stuck then post in here & give as much info as you can - makes it easier for anyone to try to help you.

Thanks for the advice buddy - I ended up using the fast activation program up in the sticky - just kept the original map and Navcore on the SD and just ran the patch - seems to be working now.

May look into updating the software and maps at some point as its probably about 1.5 years old now
