    Default Windows 8.1 & Activation - 2015

    First install uTorrent if you haven't already go it installed (http://www.utorrent.com/)

    Add these 2 torrents using the Magnet links (File > Add Torrent from URL).

    ======================================================
    Windows 8.1 United Kingdom x64 Pro VL DVD (3.63GB)

    This is the clean Volume Licensing Version that requires a KMS server to activate it. There is a very good reason for this.

    Copy & Paste it into uTorrent
    Code:
    magnet:?xt=urn:btih:0E10D17032876A1A55382E2A0D4ED89461863F14
    ======================================================
    Microsoft Toolkit from CODYQX4. (35.6Mb)

    Software able to create a KMS Server periodically on your PC to activate Volume Licensed software ONLY (including MS Office 2013, Windows Server 2012 R2 etc.)

    Copy & Paste it into uTorrent
    Code:
    magnet:?xt=urn:btih:3D4DA8157777C8D68DCF0C8BAEA590651BF8FFCE&dn=Microsoft%20Toolkit%202.5%20BETA%205%20Official%20Torrent&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.publicbt.com%3a80%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.istole.it%3a80%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3a80%2fannounce
    ======================================================

    Once both downloaded, create a Windws USB Drive installer using this -
    http://wintoflash.com/home/en/ I find this one the most reliable and easiest to use.

    NOTE: Use a USB Drive of at least 8gb in size.

    If you prefer, you can burn the ISO to a DVD and install that way. Installation will NOT ask for a CD Key.

    IMPORTANT
    Extract Microsoft Toolkit from the Zip and copy it to a/the USB Drive (needed for activation after install!)

    Install Windows 8. Wait til the whole install has finished and you're in Windows 8.1 (No need to update the Service Pack etc).

    Once Tiles has loaded, load the Desktop from Tiles and right Click the folder Icon and navigate to the USB and the Microsoft Toolkit.exe file you downloaded previously.

    Along the status bar of this program you'll notice Office and Windows Logos. Click the Windows one, no prizes for guessing what the Office one will do.

    Then click 'Activation' then 'EZ-Activator'. You might get a Firewall warning, just accept this and wait for Windows 8.1 to be activated.

    In the console, It'll say something like Product Activated. Only usually takes about 15 seconds.

    Right click the Windows 8.1 Start Button and Click System. Windows 8.1 should report its activated.

    Save USB for a later date to install the same way on any PC you wish in the future.

    Happy Windows 8.1 'ing.

    Thanks for this post.

    My laptop came with Windows 8 but since I don't know and can't use the OEM code to install Windows 8.1 fresh - I'll use a more familar method - the activator.

    One thing, the magnet link for the toolkit wouldn't work for me so I've sourced an updated one.

    magnet:?xt=urn:btih:1f263069494c94bc5ac6b4e516153f80cee358c2&dn=Microsoft+Toolkit+2.4.3-CODYQX4&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3A80&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.publicbt.com%3A80

    For any needing a fresh install there are plenty of ISO's in the usual places that come 'pre-activated'.... running one of em now and activation seems to have worked !!!

    Thanks to macmilm

    Still working for me - still seeding it and just re-added it to check.
    You have to wait for the Metadata to be downloaded from the trackers.

    A laptop is asking for the disk while attempting repair, this should work right?

    Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean
    the same thing?
