With the duo 2 can you record using the EPG like you can with sky? and maybe series link? I have a skybox f5s and thinking of sticking that upstairs and getting the duo for downstairs

In simple terms yes you can. You want an "Enigma 2" box with 2 tuner cards or LNB's, (if you want to watch one channel and record another).

I can thoroughly recommend a Venton Unibox which is essentially the same as the more prominent VU+ boxes, but usually cheaper.

Yep the Vu can as well. Like with anything though you pay your money and take a chance. The Vu duo receiver has been around since 2010 and the support for images plugins etc is excellent.
