    Help HDMI problems

Hi guys, I was wondering if there is anyone that could help me? The problem is I have just bought a 43"Samsung 3D Plasma TV and have connected my PC to it via HDMI, but the resolution wont go any higher the 1024 x 768 unless the screen goes funny. The graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 6670 2GB, running Windows 7 with 4GB Ram. I have tried different resolutions to no avail, and also searched the web which suggests something to do with turning overscan to 0 to which it is already set. Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

Try a different HDMI port on your TV, some have a specific HDMI port for PC connections.

Are you using the latest drivers? If any beta drivers are out have you tried that? What resolutions does the TV support?

    Thanks to evilsatan

What's the model number of the TV? Looking on Samsungs website the only 43" 3d plasma they have listed has a max resolution of 1024x768

    Thanks to x_Mr_C_x

Mr C means that the max supported resolution is 1024x768 so the tv can't go any higher so there's nothing actually wrong.

    Default HDMI problems

My TV will only display 1024x768 via the VGA port and manual say it only supports 1024x768 PC connections. I think that only applies to VGA connections as the TV shouldn't be able to tell what is being pushed down an HDMI cable.

So I stuck an nVidia card in there and plugged it in via HDMI and got 1920x1080.

Try updating your graphics drivers, or getting ones that you can force 1920x1080 down.

I had an issue at work where a 1080 TV would only display 1024x768 via the VGA cable if we connected a dual monitor splitter to it, the TV was detected as a 'non-plug and play monitor'. Remove the splitter and it detected the actual TV make and model and let us select 1080... So also check to see if there are any Windows drivers for your TV. Also make sure your TV is connected directly to your TV.
