Tech Unable to remove Miniomumo Price 6.3 chrome extension.

Ok guys, this one has really got me.

Just come back from a customer who was complaining of pop ups etc in Chrome on a Toshiba Win 7 laptop. So I removed all extensions in Chrome and then uninstalled a number of programs that were dodgy / unnecessary.

Ran a full Malware bytes scan in Safe mode and removed 24 items of adware.

Re-booted the laptop and this Chrome extension called miniomumo price 6.3 is still there. Each time you untick the enable box and click the trash can it re-appears after a Chrome re-start.

You try google miniomumo Price 6.3 and there is nothing at all on the web with this name. (which is quite cool in itself). Have i discovered a 0-day exploit?

I've reported it as an issue to Chrome but I am really intrigued by this.

    Anybody any thoughts?

My general process for toolbars is:

    Run rkill.exe
    Install CCleaner
In CCleaner uninstall all programs you don't like the look of, if any are suspect but you have little to go on then sort by date installed and see what else was installed at the same time
    In CCleaner run a clean
In CCleaner backup registry and repair
Open any web browsers and goto the Add-Ons/Extensions section, remove any crap
Change homepages and Search engines back to normal, remove any shit you find here
    Reboot
    Run rkill.exe
Run CCeaner and change the startup items, remove any crap, disable what you're not sure about
Run MBAM and remove anything it finds
Reboot, if there are still problems run msconfig, go to services, check 'Hide Microsoft services' then disable any crap you see

60% of the time it works all the time

    Thanks to evilsatan

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for the input.

Just got back and in the end uninstalled Chrome and re-installed it which cleared the problem. Still don't know what it was or what caused it.

I'd done a full CCleaner clean and reg clean but to no avail.

What was also interesting was that when i went into 'About' in Chrome to check the version and update it, there was a message 'updates not available, locked by administrator'. However only one account on the PC which was Admin.

I suppose, at least now, i can point to the fact that i had a googlewhack.

    Cheers
