Is etsy.com safe ?

Hi all,

My missus makes and sells various craft items and has read in a magazine about an online ebay type store called etsy.com

She normally turns to me for advice on all things internet but I've never heard of it.

As part of the signup they want some financial details so I wondered if anyone here knows anything about the site.

My Girlfriend has used Etsy for sometime. Think eBay, but for craft, and much lower fees.

Huge american bias though. She could also try the ASOS marketplace.

I think it's a new fad for the UK, but the American's have been using it for a long while.
I have heard of it before, a long time ago, and was described to me as a place for old grannies to flog knitted wooly mittens and scarfs.

Seeing as it's still about - and in certain circles is still very popular - I would say it's safe.

Ive just checked and a friend of mine has been on there trading craft stuff since june 2011. If it was duff I would have heard about it.

I know a couple of females independent of each other that sell bespoke jewellery n there and all fine

http://folksy.com/ is the UK version of Etsy so that's another option

A couple of people in work have used it. It's great for nicely designed niche stuff. No problems at all from their experiences.

I just bought a few bits from etsy. It's been around a while, I think it's a legit site.
