PS4 downloads and ready to install?

When I'm downloading games it says ready to install you click on it and still downloading, thought the hole point was to play as you download, I've had to wait the download to play anyone else?

If the game is 12 gig then it will have to download and install part of that first before you can start playing, it could be 1 or 2 gig.

Yeah me friend downloaded NBA14 and he said it let him play it after a while whilst downloading but he didn't have any sound and shit like that, he said you would have thought they would download a certain venue with just 2 teams with all the functionality rather than letting you play an half arsed version.

Took him 24hrs to download the whole game.
