This is just from my personal experiences but hope it might help others...
I've had two F5s boxes in the past and the first one, upon recieving it and scanning the square block pattern on the side of the box with my android phone (using QR droid) it took me to the hddvbsw website. This is a clone website with the latest software version available dated as 20131015. This version of f/w does not support the 7 day EPG as i updated my first clone box with it and there was no xmltv option to choose from.
Before i sent my original clone box back i bought another one from a different seller who also assured my that they were genuine boxes etc etc...This one turned out to be true though. Straight away i noticed that the boot screen showed the slybox website url in the bottom right hand corner...The barcode scanner took me to the slyboxcc website...but the most noticable difference i saw was the menu setup in that all of the various menu options were set out in a line along the bottom of the screen i.e. you just scroll left or right, whereas the clone box had the menu options laid out in a grid type manner in 3 rows of 3. To be honest i thought the clone menu set up looked better :-/
Obviously the firmware updates on the .cc website are more recent and i personally have had no issues other than a few channels missing their epg data, but I'll save that for another thread.
Overall i think the F5s is a cracking little box and i'll continue to use it as my primary box, which means that my Alien 8900 can sleep for a little while longer. Seems a bit strange going from a linux box backwards so to speak as most folk go the other way, but if it's just TV you want to watch you can't go far wrong with the F5s.
