    Help 10m scart lead?

    Hi all

i need to get some sort of 10m scart, I've seen them but concerned with quality etc

i need to run my sky box / DVD player from a different location than nkrmal
so only way is extending scart ect...

Hdmi port is knackered on my tv, I think I can run a dvi? To hdmi converter?

what is my best option for a 10m scart or 10 hdmi lead providing there's a dvi to hdmi converter...

    thanks in advance!

If you go the DVI route then don't forget it can't carry audio - just the picture so you'd also need the analogue or digital audio too.

What about one of those wireless video senders as another option?

Sure there must be repeaters that you can get (if you're worried about signal quality) or there was a wireless sender on indigogo (alternate to kickstarter)

i had some stuff running through over 10m of scart back in the day and it was ok, although when using a switch box it was always more fussy about the connection. banging the switch randomly usually sorted that.

DVI - Digital Video Interface. Video only, fine if you can lip read.
Some DVI's DO support audio, but on Sky Box... No.

Gold plated 10m Scart lead for £8.50

The quality will suffer over distance, but its a Scart. It was shit in the first place. It's the best/cheapest bodge.

Alternatively, you can do what a mate of mine is doing. HDMI over Cat5 and using homeplugs, obviously provided its on the same ring main.

But that doesn't solve much as your TVs HDMI is busted.

You can't cross from HDMI to DVI easily -lose of audio-. Although you can get adaptors to do it.
It splits audio from video into a 3.5mm jack & DVI.

Not sure what your mate has told you but HDMI via homeplugs doesn't work. If he's running HDMI over cat5 its with a wIred cat5 connection.

I may have got my wires crossed (pun intended!)

He may not be using Homeplugs for the HDMI. That maybe for something else. Admittedly, I was pissed when he showed me, but he is definitely using Cat5 for long HDMI Cables.
