    Default Curry's Cooker Repair Service

Looks like the element has gone in my oven, looking at getting it fixed and found curry's do a fix fee repair service?
Has anyone tried it (see http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cooker-...ommercial.html) or recommend a similar service, after watching YouTube I don't fancy doing it myself.

    Thanks in advance.

    British gas homecare
Call and take out the cover then very next day call to claim.
The fix it there and then.
It also covers you if anything else happens.
Failing that local adverts in papers?

I remember sourcing and changing an oven element at my mum's gaff when I was aged about 12.

If the procedure seems scary I would advise this site : www.mumsnet.co.uk

Haven't changed many in my time but the ones I have changed have been easy and straight forward. Like OC I must have been about 12 when I changed my first one. I think the Youtube videos can look scarier that the job actually is. (">

Must admit I have found an easier to follow video now, the first one I found had stage one as removing the fitted oven. Subsequent ones shown it can be achieved with the oven in place and only six or so screws to remove also found the non-genuine parts are about one third of the price of what I found originally.

I have taken Over carl's advice on board and decided to get my twelve year old to do it.

    Thanks to koola2

The non-genuine parts tend to last one third of the time too. In the long run you generally pay the same price as you will change non-genuine 3 times to the lifetime of genuine.

The biggest problem I faced when changing an element at age 12 was kneeling on the floor in a skirt!

You probably had plenty of practice in the school bike shed before that time and many times since in nightclub car parks, behind late night take away's and down the docks. (">

I've done a few, all very easy tbh. A couple could be done removing screws from inside of the oven and a couple where you need to remove the fitted oven to access the rear. Removing the oven is usually just removing 4 screws and is also easy enough to do.
If nature always takes the easiest route, what's easier...?
The creation of billions of galaxies each containing trillions of stars each with their own solar systems, some with planets that have evolved civilisations with billions of different life forms. OR The creation of just your imagination?
