    Info Windows 8.1 UAC problem

    Hello,
As many of you may know, the new MS OS does not permit Drag & Drop into applications and the only fix I found consists in turning off UAC by editing MS registry.
I did the job and my OS has Drag & Drop back again, but now I have a new problem. In fact, after disabling UAC from registry, Metro apps do not open anymore.
Does anybody know how can I fix this issue?

    Thanks in advance.

What did you change in the registry? Sounds like you need to roll that back and turn it off via gpedit.msc or the Users control panel applet as whatever you've done in the registry doesn't sound right!

I changed the DWORD value at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System from 1 to 0, because disabling from UAC control panel applet did not cause the expected results. I don't know what to change in gpedit.

    Thanks for your reply.

Was it the EnableLUA key you changed?

There's no way of getting the Metro apps working with UAC off, but what about if you enable UAC but just lower the settings?

Basically press Start - type users, and it's probably under User Accounts where you get the UAC option and a slider - probably worth trying a few methods there to see what you get.

I have forgotten to write it, sorry. It's "EnableLUA" and I changed its value to "0".
By the way, I also tried to disable UAC from control panel, but no results.

Changing EnableLUA to 0 is the only way to stop UAC... Switching UAC off in control panel doesn't actually switch it off completely because UAC is required by Metro apps. You defo need to change that back for Metro apps to work again.
