Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
this one got awesome reviews from techmoan, as BB posted

Deffo one that looks a great all rounder for the price. Before you fit just buy an Micro USB extension cable just incase.
Also you'll need your own card, class 6 or above.
I went through a few myself 6 months ago and ended up with this one.
It is really small and unobtrusive and the video quality is superb at 1080p. £35 delivered. Took 3 weeks to arrive from Fox Offer.

Doctor Who (19th April 2014)
I went and cancelled the order for the Transcend Drivepro and they're now back in stock but ten quid more - doh!
Some of those foreign ones look ace - I'm half tempted by the QS6000 with the Amberella A7 as the video looks great, but some reviews aren't the best about stability so far.
I had some dick try and drive two of us off the road yesterday - luckily he just missed an oncoming car while trying to overtake.
It's a shame you can't buy these in the shops otherwise I'd buy one today! Got close in Argos with the HP F200 but it's mail order only!
Ordered the one in this link as mentioned above. Applied a free gift code I got off Amazon as well so £59 for the GPS and Built in 8Gb version. I'll get a larger card if it's really necessary (most of my journeys are less than 1 hour so 1080p on an 8Gb card card is fine)

The DOD one looks really nice to be honest but at £130, it's something I might consider next year for the front and put the one I just bought in the back
You really need several of these all round the car - guessing one day they'll come as standard similar to say reversing sensors etc.
really like pegasus's one with force etc, that's a really nice piece of kit and something nobody could argue against. It's just a shame that most times these days the insurance companies can't be arsed to investigate properly.
How do these know when the car is on? As on some cars the cigarette lighter still works with the ignition off..

Depends how you wire them.
Majority connect to 12V Ciggy lighter, so will turn on, and start recording automatically when you turn the ignition on.
if you're car has a permanent live 12V Ciggy lighter, then chose a Dashcam with an On/Off Button or wire it into a switched live, or just put a a switch in the 12v cable.
No biggie.
In the end I went for the Transcend DrivePro 200 again for the back of the car and got an Ambarella A7 based E-Prance GS6000 for the front which does 2304*1296P.
The Transcend is a basic camera without GPS but with the G Shock stuff etc, and the Ambarella has GPS too.
The Transcend should be here today so looking forward to having a play - nearly went for the Mini0801 and I might still send back the Transcend - still trying to find some decent reviews of it!
I just ordered the BlackVue Wi-Fi 2 Channel DR550GW-2CH 16GB with Power Magic Pro. It is a pricey device but is one of the best featured, looking and popular high-end cams, the custom firmware was just released which is supposed to turn it from a very good device into an amazing device.
One sold second hand on ebay last night for £300 without the £50 power magic pro. I just ordered one brand new with power magic pro and priority shipping for $375 from Amazon US. Will post back when it arrives and is installed.
From my original hunting around I'd though about getting the Blackvue for the dual camera's but the comments in the comparisons section of dashcamtalk aren't great:
Might get a mini 0801 for the time being as I do like the dinkyness of it, there is a new version due out soon with the Ambarella A7 chip though.
1920x1080p 30fps
1280x720p 30fps

No Screen
Sm Size 118.5 x 36mmDay: Very Good
Night: AverageUnknown, pixelation due to low bit rate A feature packed camera but low bit rate is disappointing for the high price.
That BlackVue sounds decent - the GS6000 that should be landing tomorrow is around 18Mbps average bitrate from what I've read.
I've given the Transcend a go on the way home and to be honest I'm not all that impressed - it could be because I've had it in the iPhone holder but the video is constantly shaking and it was setting off the GShock sensor every time I hit a pothole (mind you this is Sheffield area so the roads aren't great!)
The Transcend records in MOV format - I've hosted one here if any of you want to take a look:

For some reason the link doesn't seem to work on the iPhone but should work on a PC.
I'll give it another go when it gets dark but on first impressions it's not as good as the sample videos - I'll check the firmware (this was on v1.17) and see if there are any improvements available.

Is there an iphone app that can do the job? I've searched but when I run TomTom all cameras switch off.
I hope mine to land next week so will fit ASAP and post some samples when I go on a run. I am eager to try the parking mode feature so I can hopefully catch any wankers who damage the car and don't leave a note.
That's the feature I'd really like so be interested to see what you think. The power magic pro seems a good addition but still not necessarily long enough on the battery life.
Right these are all hosted on Dropbox now - two day videos and two night videos:

Hopefully you folks should be able to download these now - these are totally untouched and raw out of the device.
I've had to turn down the G Shock sensor to low as it was triggering constantly on medium. The night videos don't look too bad - but in terms of reading number plates none of the videos seem that good. Is this the sort of thing to expect at this price range or are these looking pretty bad? They look upscaled to me or old phone videos.
I should have the Ambarella A7 based device tomorrow or Thursday so at least I'll be able to see the difference first hand.
