Are these the ones I recently saw a Guy Martin documentary on? Very nice!
We all make mistakes sometimes
Martin is sponsored by them so could be. There is a video somewhere of him at the factory welding one up. Made in Halifax in Yorkshire. Bike has as many UK components on as possible where the quality is as it should be, followed by Canadian and then lastly American and Jap.
That's the one I saw, good to see the effort it takes to make one.

Nice looking bike there Bert. Can't make out, are they 650b or 26" Rims?
Hey Goose,
Just looking at your set up there. How do you find your riding position? From your set up it looks like it may need a few tweaks. Your brake levers are at a 3 o'clock position, do you sit quite low on your bike? Normally they would be at about 5 o'clock (See Bert's ride). When you're pedaling, your leg on the lower pedal should be almost straight, just a little bend in the knee. When you put your foot down you should be on your tip-toes. Also, have you considered putting some toe clips on? You dont have to go all out with SPD's but the toe clips help with getting your foot position correct on your pedals. It's quite easy to use the arch of your foot instead of the ball of your foot. As you're starting out, it's good to get set up right from the beginning and not get any bad habits. You may already be riding spot on but just thought I'd give you some pointers. :-)
Bert, nice ride mate, those discs are huge! They must have some real stopping power.

When I got the bike I found that the brakes were too far round and it was awkward on day hands to reach them, so I adjusted them to that 3 o'clock position, a lot more comfier.
Just typed toe clips into google, saw the image then got a flashback....
Wondered what those fucking things we're for in the box!!

@tawny - 203mm on front and a 183mm on the rear. Yes they certainly bite how I like. ;-)
@Goose - I would change your tubes to something lighter initially, will reduce rolling weight a lot. Schwalbe SV13F are what I normally use. As far as other stuff goes, your seat looks low and as above I would recommend making sure yuor leg extension is right when pedaling. Also make sure your forks are working how they should and actually absorbing bumps. Can't tell what they are from the photo but if they are air sprung then fiddle with different pressure to make sure when you sit on the bike they compress 20 - 25% before you use them.

Yeah Goose make sure your seat high enough (saddle usually level or higher than handlebars urs look below and that's why you not liking the brakes at a better angle) as not having a straight leg when riding is just wasting energy and as Bert said those tyres on the road will knacker you out very quickly due to resistance

Just put the toe clips on, feel strange - going to get some getting used to.
I'll readjust the saddle and go out a ride later and let you know how I get on.
The front shocks are hydraulic, and have this nifty little feature on them which I quite like - it's been years since I was on a bike so probably this "nifty feature" is commonplace now...
