Help PS3/USA Netflix

Hi all,

For a long time I have been using various dns' to access USA content on Netflix from my PS3.

A couple of days ago the one I was using went down and normally it's just a matter of googling for another set of DNS but I'm having trouble finding any that are working this time.

Many allow me to log in to the USA site but they don't let anything play.

Does anyone have any working DNS codes ?

Many thanks,

malty

I think I signed up for the trial there yonks ago (possibly years) but never used it in anger.

I'm hoping to avoid a fee service if possible.

Incidentally on their ps3 instructions page, they just list dns changes. How would they know it's a subscriber using it ?

They remember your IP from the last time you logged into the website mate, if it ever changes you just go to the website and login and then all requests from your internet IP work (so it happily works on multiple devices at the same time).

Probably worth giving it another free trial to a throwaway email to see if it works for you?

Thanks to reverend

I'm guessing this is related mate?

http://support.unblock-us.com/custom...s3-and-netflix

As you will know Netflix have been carrying out some testing to find the fastest path to stream their content to the PS3. This is understandable with their business being dependant on speed, which obviously makes this very important. From our end, it is clear that they are cross checking a few DNS, discarding the slowest, and picking the fastest. We know that our DNS is not going to be the fastest every time, which is why the problem can seem to go away, but then reappear. This has resulted in a number of PS3 users being unable to switch Netflix regions on the PS3, or people receiving various aip or ui errors.
It is important to point out that this issue is only affecting Netflix on the PS3, so our service is still working on all other devices and for all other services we support. This is not a fault with our service, but something that has been implemented by Netflix and/or Sony.
Before we get to the drastic step of changing the configuration of your router - there are a few things you can try first.

1. Make sure that you have checked your service status.
2. Hold start and select whist the Netflix app loads on your PS3. This will force you to log back into your Netflix account.
3. Deactivate Netflix across all of your devices . This doesn’t always work on the PS3 though, so make sure you use the hidden PS3 menu to log out.

If none of the above steps work, then the only way to fix this is to make some changes to your router settings, however this is not possible on every router, as some may lack the “static routing” (or similar) functionality, which is what is needed to fix this issue, or some may be ‘locked down’ by your ISP.
We have been working very hard to try to come up with solutions for as many different routers as we can, however, it has now become impossible for us to continue trying to fix every single router make and model and firmware version, as this is now taking us away from the day to day issues that we have to address to keep bringing the best possible service we can to you, our subscribers.
It is for this reason we have had to make the difficult decision to stop trying to create fixes for routers other than the ones that are listed below.
If you feel confident enough to fix your own router you may want to take a look at the technical guide that we have put together.

You must then set up your PS3 AFTER router has been setup
If your router isn’t listed above we haven’t been able to test it. We cannot say for certain whether you will be able to use our service with Netflix on the PS3. If your router doesn’t support certain advanced features you will not be able to use our service on your PS3 (for Netflix) as you will be unable to switch regions, and you may be receiving constant error messages.
In these cases there is nothing we can do - but if you have our DNS setup on your router, please set your PS3 up according to the instructions above and see how you get on. You may find that the first few attempts do not work - then it will. However, this isn’t a 100% solution. The only real solution would be to replace your router with one of the ones listed above.
We are very sorry that there is not a fix available for everyone, but this problem has not been created by us, and we have attempted to help as many of our subscribers as we can but unfortunately we cannot offer support for Netflix on the PS3 for any routers other than those listed.
We also have a list of routers that we know can not be fixed, so if you are considering a new router you may want to avoid those.
We will of course keep you updated if the situation changes as we know that just because testing is taking place now it does not mean that the changes will be rolled out across the board.

Apparently it was all down to some rogue proxy services blocking the fixed dns's and trying to sell a service.

Just tested these codes and they are working.

Used these settings on my TV.

Fully signed up for a US account at $7.99 a month (after trial period), works a treat.

Amazon Prime, iPlayer still work without changing a thing.

Many thanks
