Default Portable Photo Studio - Any Good For Photographing Jewellery?

Daughter has started making and selling jewellery. Can anyone tell me if one of these portable studios are any good for taking decent images. (">

They do quite a reasonable job for the money. The only real issue is the backgrounds come folded and they are a nylon type material so they are creased and a bit of a git to get the creases out!

I'd say you can always get better equipment untill your paying silly money but what's more important is learning to take the right shot and knowing your tools as much as possible. I'm new so I can't see the link unfortunately but I can say with a nice backdrop and diffused light you can always get a good shot if you know basic lighting setups etc. Good point about the creases but of course you can always just patch them out in photoshop or put them out of focus enough.

    Thanks to roofio

Trying to keep the costs down for her as she is just starting out with this (and if the past is anything to go by she won't stick with it to be honest so no point her spending serious money on anything). If I still had some drafting film for light diffusion I could make one and tell her to just get the lamps with the daylight bulbs.

She can always iron out the creases in the background material. She is a bit strange because apart from not sticking with anything she actually likes ironing. Will probably just tell her to get one for that price if as you say it does a reasonable job. I will probably end up taking the images for her anyway. (">

I have just purchased one of these from eBay to list some stuff on there: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4006375620...84.m1497.l2649

£6.99 delivered, it is pennies to basically give it a try.

What lamps did you use with that? I know the lamps usually sold with these portable studios can usually be bought separately for around £8 each. Got a couple of compact fluorescent daylight bulbs here so maybe I could make use of them. with a couple of cheap gooseneck table lamps I should have lying around in the garage attic. (">

    Not tried it yet.

I have a couple of room lamps I am going to play with. Finding time at the moment is tough with the little fella, hopefully during the week or the weekend I will give it a go.

MsDG mentioned about creases etc... I did look at it and wonder how it will deal with them. I will open the packs fully tonight and see.

Thats good. 80p/sheet with more than enough colours to choose from. 450mm x 300mm size will be big enough for jewellery and can always place side by dide to increase width to 600mm if neeeded. (">
