There was a UK government website that you filled in a online page of your travel dates, locations, party etc etc its there for tracking/help purposes.
I cant remember the web address or what its called, does anyone have a link?

British FCO to drop LOCATE service
30th April 2013
The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is to drop the service and replace it with email, Twitter and Facebook alerts for updated travel advice
From 15 May the FCO’s LOCATE registration system will cease to operate, being superseded by a country-specific email alert system and additional social media channels.
The FCO was heavily criticised for its lack of communication with British travellers when the Libyan civil war erupted in 2011, leaving hundreds of tourists stranded. The LOCATE system, which was set up in 2008 as a people-tracking register, was also criticised as, reportedly, fewer than 1% of British travellers used it.
The new methods of communication require travellers to subscribe to email or social media updates. For those wanting to subscribe, go to www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice and select the country you are travelling to. On the right hand side, click on “Email Alerts” and then enter your email address. Travel advice updates will also be issued via the FCO Twitter account @fcotravel and on their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/fcotravel.
According to current FCO advice, it is particularly important that you subscribe to the new service if considering travel to: Afghanistan, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Iraq, Kenya, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Somalia, Sudan, Syria or Yemen.

Yeh but to receive updates requires your phone to be on/active and in turn runs up a massive bill.
The old way at lease you had a register of sorts of travel.
I used to emails all the time asking me to register on this service. Never wanted them to know how to get hold of me though. Still not sure how the got my email....
Most of the ex-pats I know also refused to sign up to it. Guess thats why it got pulled.
