Advice Receive Channels direct from Virgin feed

I think I may already know the answer but wondered if someone could just confirm for me.

A long time ago when I was at uni we use to watch the basic TV channels by directly connecting a aerial to the 'then NTL' coax lead and tuning the TV in.

I have recently moved and in a bedroom we only have a Virgin feed available in the room - would I be able to have a Ariel to Coax cable and get 'some' channels out - or with the demise of analogue tele this is now impossible?

Any other options with using this feed (cheap as possible) or is the best bet to try a in-room aerial and see if i can pick up any freeview?

You have to have a TV capable of cable reception, my Sony has but I can longer tune the Virgin channels on it. I checked before my account cancellation was in force so I know it is actually not just a dead feed.
    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

then the next option will be to try and 'broadcast' my TIVO box downstairs. Powerline adapters or having a Android STB with the virgin TV Anywhere app?

The Virgin Anywhere app is a joke, hardly any channels and none that I ever watch. . .

Actually it looks like they finally expanded the lineup. . .still a flaky app though.

In the interim could you not use something to stream TVCatchup to it? The quality will be lacking for sure, but it will give you something at least and you can probably use a Chromecast or similar?

I faced a similar problem recently but managed to get around it with a Sony TV I have.

It was one of only a few models that they brought out a goof few years ago that has a receiver box separate to the TV and sends the signal (1080i but will accept 1080p) wireless to the TV (32" version of this -> http://www.trustedreviews.com/Sony-B...D-TV_TV_review).
    We all make mistakes sometimes

hmmm ChromeCast might be an option - wifi signal is a bit poor in the bedroom mind - may need to put a wifi extender.

Now wasn't someone selling one for £20?!?!?
