Being a little bit of a geek (why else did we join DF?), I am somewhat interested in adding a heart rate monitor to my workouts. I have been running 5k twice a week now for a while. I was interested in knowing what my heart was doing. There is a hr monitor on the treadmill in the gym, but it's a pain in the arse to run with your hands on the monitors.

I originally thought I'd buy the Polar FT7M. Then I saw a Wahoo Blue, then amazon told me that the Wahoo was an older model and sent me to the TICKR.

So... Any advice?

I wouldn't mind one that can connect to my phone and work with my running apps, such as runkeeper and endomondo - when I want to. Which is probably when I run outside. It would also be cool, if I could add a fitness watch to it at some point too. Which I may prefer instead of having to take my phone.
