    Advice Xbox One TV Setup

    Hi All

wanted to find out how many people have there sky box setup through there xbox and what settings they have

I currently have a Samsung 42" Smart TV (UE42F5500) and Sky HD box but the picture quality is not great - it seems a bit juddery/jumpy.

If anyone can advise the best setup I would appreciate it - currently back to watching sky through the TV and would like to utilise the full capabilities of the xbox.

Yeah mine was the same, don't bother with it. I just press source on my tv remote. All that shit is a gimmick.

My brother has his 50" Samsung running thought xbox and as has been said the picture's absolute cack, juddery, jumpy and fuzzy, I really can't see the point in it, I buy a games console to play fucking games! When he's not in work his console is always on and with Microsoft' track record I wonder how long it'll last

I can't really see any advantages either, most TV's also have picture in picture if you are really desperate to watch TV while gaming.

I have a HDMI splitter from my SKY HD box so I have a feed going directly into me TV and 1 into me xbox so I can watch it either thru TV (HDMI 1) or Xbox (HDMI 2) only really watch thru xbox when gaming so it snapped ;-)

I have Sky running through mine, 50 inch Samsung. Picture quality is mint. I like being able to switch between other Apps, Netflix for example by just using my voice. I can also control volume and mute by voice, and can snap to TV whilst playing a game for latest Sky Sports news. The only time I need a remote at all with my whole set up is to change tv channels but hopefully Sky will bring an app out so I can say Xbox Sky One or whatever and voila.

    3 Thanks given to flik

thats the reason why i want it setup so i can snap sky sports news whilst playing a game - had it setup when got console on release day but quality was poor - i thought one of the updates was supposed to fix this issue but nope.

have you done anything specific to get a quality picture?? or just plugged in and run through the setup??

As say I got one of these
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-HDMI-S...item4d0d45a36a

So as long as you can have 2 HDMI inputs on your TV you can watch thru tv and also snap on XBOX.

As for XBOX performance does seem less jerky but still has its moments.

The new sound mixer is handy so that you can change volume levels between main and snapped screens
    Settings>Display&Sound>Sound Mixer

    3 Thanks given to akimba

I have an LG 3D Smart TV, XBox One and DM800HD. My Dreambox is connected to the XBox One. I like it and use the voice commands to change channels etc quite a lot. Mainly because I keep loosing the bloody remote controls lol

The whole concept of XBOX One is to be an entertainment hub. And as it stands it's the best and only out there by a mile. I'm sorry that your Brother can't get his setup sorted properly. The only people I know that have an issue with how all this works are a couple of DF'ers and one of them thinks that Xbox One is a Games console ?

That might work when there's any form of DLNA or PLEX support ...until then it's a games console with minimal content and the ability to stick Netflix and MLB.TV on it.

As others have said i have no issues running my sky box through the xbox. Picture quality is perfect and i couldnt live without the voice commands now.

for the people having issues with judder etc make sure you have changed the settings to display TV at 50hz when in full screen. This wont fix judder when snapped but it shouldnt really matter as its there for convenience really.

I like watching the football with IE snapped showing me stats or the scores of other games on my slip.....

    Stupid question time i'm sure...

Just ordered the xbox one, have a Samsung TV and Sky HD... Do i plug a hdmi from sky HD to Xbox one and then order another HDMI from xbox one to tv? If yes will this still allow the Sky box to work as normal direct via TV... also another query is does audio detect work for source when xbox one is switched in?

Yes - plug sat box to HDMI in, and HDMI out goes to your TV. Everything works as you would expect however your XBox MUST be on to watch TV
