I have the Lloyds bank app on my P7000. Don't know how to check the version of the phone though.
Edit, this any use?
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

Could you try and instal the barklays banking banking app and seeing if it runs
It installed and I ran it up to the 5 digit password page. Wouldn't let me screen grab though, must be a security thing.

Cheers that means yours isnt rooted wonder why my p8000 has come pre rooted wonder if geek buying done it as they delayed shipping it saying that it was going to be tested before being sent out
Strange just used a pc app called Kingo Root and it tell's me that my phone isn't rooted.
After reading that I have installed a small app called root checker basic. Says it isn't rooted.

Maybe there's just a custom recovery then, which would allow a custom ROM to be installed (I think..)
Gah, I'm not sure mate. I'd have to wonder if it went that deep. The last time I had any dealings with apps not working on rooted devices, it was the NowTV app and I'm sure that app was simply detecting if certain files/folders were present and/or modified.

Yeah thought it was gonna be a bit of a nightmare someone on xda said it could just be that the barclays app doesn't like the Chinese hardware / software have also posted on the elephone forums see if I can get a response from them doubt it though
Have you looked into that cloaking app - Cloak-It I think it's called?
Having said that, I've never heard anyone having massive success with it. Infuriating really, I imagine.
Rootcloak it's called. Looks like it runs on Xposed framework.

Most of the apps that tell you if you are rooted or not tell me mine isn't, (P6000) but it deffo is.
You could do a factory reset on your device to put it back to virgin unrooted state. You hold either volume up or down whilst holding the power button as you turn on then you get a menu with option to backup/restore factory reset e.t.c

Will give it a go but think I already know the answer
It's a shame really as yes there are a few niggly things with the phone that I don't like but for the money it's very good but this may make me get rid of it at the end of the day I want to be able to do everything with it
So if I done a factory reset that would remove the root? Thought it was a bit more than that
Just tried installing xposed but once it loaded it just told me it couldn't do anything as I wasn't rooted lol
I guess it's all down to the software that elephone have set it up with
Would love to have just a stock android rom on this
I'm not sure a factory reset unroots wholly. It certainly didn't on my G2 and the custom recovery was retained. The only way for me to go totally back to stock (to return for repair) was to flash a stock ROM.
There's no saying your handset would run on a vanilla ROM. There could be incompatible hardware I suppose, which is probably why it has a custom ROM and is so cheap to buy.
Well can't confirm other than my elephone P6000 . Barclays app was a no go until I did the factory reset as mentioned then all was good.
