Yep, I did my homework when it came to the S5 and noted at least 10 types of clone all at varying prices and screen/CPU specs. As you say, buyer beware as some unsuspecting person may be shocked with what they actually get delivered.

Some of them are not clear on what model of CPU they will get and can also be a bit hazy on screen resolution. First thing I did when it came was to run some system tools to verify the internals. I have the MK6592 8-core with 1080p display.

Update after a question on Cubots Facebook page they will be bringing out, a x6 kitkat version soon! Here's the reply!
    Hi Lee!

As we can proudly pronounce, there is already a work on KitKat for Cubot X6 going on.

But there is no fixed release date for now, because we suggest that it has to be real stable and be tested various to be a official release.

Check out official Website http://cubot.net or our blog http://blog.chinahandy.eu for all future Updates.

    Many thanks,
    great week,

    Hiya

The S5 Clone is actually very good - true 1080p ISP display but the fingerprint sensor is false which is no biggy - I'd rather use a PIN anyway. All the Google Play Store apps work fine no problem. I got one of those cheapy 4800Mah batteries off Ebay and it gives me 2 full days of charge with medium usage throughout the day which is great.

I got it from DHGate, from a seller called Pillar - here is the link to what I bought. They aren't the cheapest clones around (£140) but I believe they are the best specc'd at the moment. Took about 2 weeks to come through with free postage option.

    http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/...197303379.html

You get a Smart S-View case with it too - seen these in Asda the other day for £49.99. Bloody Samsung ripoff.

    Cheers

    Al

Theres currently 2 £200ish phones that have awesome specs available here in China, if someone wants something a bit exotic without getting cut down specs

The First is the Xiaomi Mi 4, which looks like a large iPhone 5 and supposedly has comparable build quality

Plus, you can get some real wood backs for em, for about 6quid I think

Xiaomi is a respectable and well established brand here in China, their shit usually sells out in preorders. I bought their first telly which is excellent.

The second is the oneplus one, which ships with cyanogen as the default OS and looks a bit like the LG G2/3 phones, theres videos of it outperforming the G3, so its no slouch.

I'm gonna be grabbing one to give the wife on her birthday, probably the oneplus one.

    Thanks to {{909}}

Is the one plus one widely available over there then? They are selling it via an invite only model over here.

I forgot we've got a chinese insider on here. Perhaps we should get a little sideline importing the oneplusone's into the UK.

Years ago, with those knockoff copies from china, where you always had the dual sim with total shit software that crashed all the time, iit put me off. Nowadays, they are all running Android anyway with all round great spec.
If I didn't have the M8, I'd certainly be sniffing around these.

Just read the review on amazon, no 4g unless you are on EE. Well the thought was nice whilst it lasted. I'll probably pick up a nexus 6 when they are released.

i haven't been to the shops too look but they are widely available online.

That invite thing they're doing is bollocks, xaiomi did the same thing with their telly but it was only a few weeks after launch that all the online retailers were selling as normal, while official outlets needed some sort of registration bullshit.

    No it's a hardware thing. It doesn't support 800MHz

Dragging up this old thread, my upgrade date is fast approaching, I think I'm going to ditch apple (had them since the 3G) and switch to android. I've played with the Mrs' S5 and am very impressed with it, I do however also love the look of the LG G3, but after reading that the S6 is rumoured to be announced in March and likely released in April and the G4 will be a month or 2 later, I'm thinking of dropping to a rolling sim for a few months and buying a cubot x6. Are you guys that have used/are using the x6 still happy with it, and has Kitkat dropped for it and is lollipop going to does anyone know?
