My P8000 has been shipped although the tracking number shows no info atm. Hopefully get it end of the week.

There is a guy selling them on ebay, shipped from UK for £147 which is a pretty good price

When I get stuff it usually takes 2 days before tracking info starts to work. It is often a bit vague too. Sometimes have had the item arrive when the last update said it had just left HK !! If you opted for DHL it will be a lot more up to date though and will deffo by with you this week from experience.

Not fussed about having a rooted phone anymore to be honest

    Sorry chap, missed this.

Yep, same here on my daughters P8000. Barclays app says it is rooted.

I think all Chinese phones will be rooted from the factory.

    Can you unroot a phone?

It's strange because every other thing I use to test it's root tells me that it isn't rooted it's only the barclays app that is saying that it is rooted

Same here m8, I installed a couple of apps on my P8000 that wouldn't run because the phone wasn't rooted, yet Barclay's app and SkyGo won't run because they think my phone is rooted

Harking back to my previous post (about the NowTV app), I learned that often simply unrooting isn't enough as the root leaves behind residual files/folders. If the app does a check for those, you're stuffed. Case in point, the only way to get that app working on my Nexus tablet was to flash a stock ROM. The damn tablet wasn't rooted anyway (I'd unrooted it) but even a factory reset didn't clear system files that something like SuperSU had left behind.

    Incidentally, P8000 review here.
I've not watched it myself, but AA are usually pretty good vids.

This was posted by one of the moderators on the elephone forums but he has disappeared

    The phone is not rooted.
But there is a root in ADB shell possible.
Check this out - so I will describe, how to disable this.

Seemed to be the camera and the suitability for the USA networks, mainly.

I got my p8000, yesterday moving from a nexus 5, its very good, feels solid, decent screen only real gripe is the speaker is too quiet even at full volume. Not sure I like the elephone ROM coming from plain android it has a few small things I don't like so will probably flash a new rom, cyanogen supposedly releasing a ROM.

-Disappointing camera quality - bollocks, its superb.
-Potential quality control issues with display - bollocks, its superb.
-Some units do not include the notification LED - bollocks, its sup-..no wait, there are no LED's - hardly a problem though. The keys work fine, they just don't light up.
-Distorted speaker output - bollocks, its fine.
-Low headphone volume- bollocks, its fine.

This coming from an actual owner, not some reviewer with an agenda.

    2 Thanks given to crazyal

Today (just now) is the first time I've had a low battery notification. It's set to 15% by the way. Not many people at work this week and I've given the phone a right going over all day & evening. Superb battery life. I was only thinking earlier how I would plug the iPhone in next to the sofa after work.

I hate you lot...I tried and tried to ignore this thread I now am in the P8000 club. After seeing all you guys especially crazyal's appraisal then I thought it just rude not to. Coming by DHL so I will probably cop a customs charge but what the hell I just want my new toy.
