Advice Android completely free Nav app.. tried any?

    Esteemed DF'ers,

I am going to Spain in a few weeks. We have hired a villa and have a hire car so we plan to do a fair bit of exploring and driving round. (please don't break into my house)

I am unable to rely on my wife reading a map as she is from a long line of retards. I need a turn by turn app for android that can be used offline.

Can anyone recommend an accurate free app for android?

You can download the Maps for offline use on any devices that uses Google maps now mate.

Bit of a pain as I think you can only download around 80-120 mile radius at a time over your home Wifi etc.

I used navfree for a while. You can download any regions maps you want in advance. IIRC , it was ok.. no major issues but not earth shattering,

    Thanks to Basset

I thought all Android apps were free, they were when I had one.

You can get tomtom iberia and many others for android from here, you can also get tomtom europe but it's 3.5gb.

    Enjoy

Tomtom or copilot are regularly on offer. I bought tomtom for about £21 iirc and think it's well worth it since you get updates/updated maps etc.

I also use nave free, I quite like it and it has got me where I need to be everytime.

not bad for a freebie and you dload the maps so offline use should be fine.

I noticed overclockers are doing 7 inch tablets now from £29 brand new, not going to be
the best thing ever but I may go the tablet/nav free route for a cheap ass sat nav once my
tom tom unit is past it.

Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean
    the same thing?

    Thanks to wakadoo

Just be careful as many of the cheap tablets don't have gps chip sets (or Bluetooth for that matter).

I wanted a cheap one to use with an obd scanner but lots don't have Bluetooth.
