I've got a Linx 7 coming for Christmas. I've also been trying the droidsticks M8 since Saturday and it works really well. The wizard is superb - ideal for someone who doesn't know how to manage addons (not me, I've used xbmc for years). I'm not really sure the android part will ever get used. I've found some M8 style boxes on alibaba (Ali express) with Linux based xbmc which work out to about £35ish.
i've just bought an Open Hour Chameleon android box that you can load XBMC onto, works pretty well so far and is quite slick

You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.
I'm after something simple to setup and use, these look ok to me but what would you suggest?

They are really easy to set up but you pay a premium of about £35 to £40 for their wizard, which is basically the single main advantage of ordering from them. I set up an M8 from there using the remote. They include a cheap wireless mouse but there's no need for it. The standard basic remote is a bit cheap but it does the job, the one thing I would like to be able to set is a key press delay because it can jump a couple of icons at a time. The M8 didn't just come with the wizard it was flashed with a droidsticks image. It does make a difference having some managed addons although I am happy to keep my own pi based xbmc updated by myself.
This might be a daft question but can you simply use the driodsticks wizard if you buy your own box from china or is the wizard a paid app?

too much installed with droidsticks imo
good for beginners, but i like to have my own selection of addons and nothing more

I would agree with Fergie, the wizard is perfect for beginners and for people who don't want to do much fiddling.
I would buy the boxes for about £35-£45 and download the wizard from the site i posted earlier. There is a Droidstick Wizard and a Droidbox Wizard. Both are the same and from what i can tell run by the same guy.
For the remote they usually come with a basic remote which i use to get to xbmc, then i use an xbmc remote app on my phone or iPad (Yahtze on my phone and the official xbmc remote app on my iPad) They both connect through the wifi and it makes searching easier.

As far as the remote goes I did notice a setting in android to enable CEC. This is how I use my pi attached to my telly - by using the standard tv remote over HDMI and can stuff the pi out of sight. If I can enable that on the M8 that would be great, I'll have a look tonight.
the mx2 box i had did cec
despite my previous post on droidsticks ive ordered an m8 quad core from them....their setup is good and has alot i want, will just take me a while to delete the shite i dont need

Don't forget the run xbmcbackup once you have it running as you like
Just use enough water to cover your vegetables, the same goes for when you're having a bath....

So would you say the M8 is the one to get?
