    Help CF Card Won't Format

I have a Transcend 4GB Industrial CF Card. Unfortunately I am unable to use it at the moment as it keeps asking that I format the card before I use it and then when I do try and format I get a message telling me 'Windows was unable to complete the format'.

Is there any good software out there I can use to repair the card, preferably free?

Try formatting it in a different system I have had the same issue before.
i formatted it in my daughters laptop using a card reader and it worked first time.

I don't think that would work mate. It failed on my card reader using my netbook and now it also won't work on my desktop.

Are you just wanting to use it. If not chuck it in the bin. Not worth loosing stuff in the long run.

Do you have a camera that takes a CF card, try and format it in that.

I have a sandisk rescue code you can have, but its at my mum's house so may take me a few days to get it sorted for you.

but I agree with crashtestmac, skip the card and buy a new one, its caused you this problem now it is likely to cause you problems in the future.

I would suspect that the industrial cards would have a decent warranty on them so may be worth looking in t that route or if you don't need the operating temperature range they offer buy the normal ones for £11 at my memory?
