I know the majority are ladybirds but what are the spiny things that share the same colouration?

Could be Ladyblokes

They are all harlequin ladybirds, and the bugs are the larvae before they change.

Odd how they all gather on the corner of the broken cement.

The country has been besieged by them. I've never seen so many Harlequins as I have in the last few weeks. Our house is completely white on the exterior and I saw easily 80 or 90 of them on it, not to mention the 10 or 15 on my car. Popped out to a local park and there were hundreds and hundreds of them. Haven't really bothered to photograph them simply due to the sheer volume of them. Guess it's the very mild October we've had.
