Help Nintendo 2DS any good for a 5 year old?

My lad is 5 in a few weeks, He likes playing the Powerstar Golf on the Xbox One and did ok on the Lego demo.

I'm thinking of getting him a 2DS but not sure on the games. Mario Kart he would love as he likes Asphalt Car game on my HTC One.
Have heard the 3d one gives headaches so that's a no no.

Any good deals out there? Game wanted £110 just for the machine

    Cheers

Think the 3ds is not recommended for under 7's due to eyes not being fully developed until kids are 7.

2 ds should be fine for a 5 yo, I got my son a ds lite when he was 5 and he loved it and picked up how to use it really quickly, also made him take care of it as he knew if he didn't it wouldn't work.

    £99.99 2ds and Tomodachi Game
