360 drive tray won't close

Hi guys

Just been called by a friend saying her son's 360 drive won't close as a result of him hitting it with a game case! He's only 6 lol and he only got it 5 days ago, 2nd hand.

I'm assuming it's the drive gears that are mis-aligned, is there an easy fix for this or am i going to have to dismantle the console? to get at the drive and manually re-align the cogs and tray?

I'd say that it'll need taking apart and doing for sure

Usually a little peg comes out from the tray runner, you'll need to dismantle it to get it back in.

He might of just made the elastic band that is on the gears come off my son has done the same.

What its more likely done has misaligned the len raise on the gears. (Where the tray goes back and the lens raises to read the disc)

Sometimes you don't have to take it apart. I generally press eject and pull the tray hard, It sounds harsh but 9 times out of 10 will pull out with out having to open the xbox up.

Or as your pulling it out bend it upwards in the middle from both sides of the tray (Arch it up) and it will slide out.

Putting back in make sure the cogs are to the far right ( Plastic peg to the far right ) and put the tray back in. You might have to arch it up again to reinsert it.
