Default Sharing Media over the Internet Alternative to Plex !

Been using Plex Media Server on My Home PC for about 12 months now.

Has worked fine for the most part. I share this with a few family and friends over the internet as I have the Plex Pass membership or whatever they call it.

Is there an alternative I should consider that is easy to use for the numpty at the client end ;-)

My reason for asking is I have increasing problems with Plex of late, not sure why but a fair few crashes/media cannot be played, glitches, blah blah
To fix I seem to need to reboot my server then tell them to reboot whatever device at their end plus reboot of routers e.t.c (HASSLE)

My only feature request is playable over internet.
Or is it worth spending the time figuring out what is fooking up with plex?

I am by NO means an expert in this; DejaVu probably has best experience for serving - but the guy I leech off is always telling people to have playback set as Direct Play with Fallback. Something to do with transcoding issues otherwise. Not sure if that's any use to you.

    Thanks to Zoots

Have now started getting issues locally.

Last night tried streaming some stuff from My Plex media server which is connected via cable to my router which is also connected to my xbox360 via cable. ( I was watching via the 360 )
Whatever I tried playing would play for 10 seconds or so before sound started to glitch and then few seconds later just stopped.

    WTF? Any ideas appreciated.

Is the processor or disk working too hard (runnig at 100%) ? Have you installed any new software that would be using up these resources thus causing the buffering / crashes.
