Help New to 3D. What are my options?

    Hi all,

After little to no interest in 3D I was given my first ever 3D set today (a 42" LG led) when a family member upgraded to a 55" 4k TV.

What are my options regarding 3D media?

I have a ps4 which I understand can play 3D bluray (I don't have any yet) and I also have a dual core pc that I use as an xbmc box. Can this be made to play 3D downloads? Are there any specific download types I should be looking for?

Looking forward to seeing some sci-fi in 3d.

    Thanks guys,

    Malty

If it's a smart TV it should have it's own media player you can play download 3D stuff on.. loads of 3D stuff in the usual places.
Downloads are normally SBS (side by side) format.
Bluray players are cheap now too at around 50 quid if the PS4 isn't suitable.

It is a smart TV yes. I never considered that it might play 3d files itself.

    Will try some today.

    Thanks

I go for the 3D.HSBS.x264.mp4 ones and even at the small file size of 1.5gb they do look good.

Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean
    the same thing?

The problem is that scene releases are HSBS (Halfscreen Side By Side) which means you lose half the resolution and 3D only works really well with good HD in my opinion. I've grabbed a few releases and they are okay but pale in comparison to a bluray 3D.

Found a 1.8GB HSBS rip of Guardians of the Galaxy and tbh it seems pretty good. i think I'm going to take a walk later on and see if I can find any of my favourite sci fi in bluray 3d
