    Question Bonded Rubber Mulch

So i decided to take a week off last week to fill in a pond (the size of a lake) in our back garden. After spending £200 to just put shit in a hole i am now considering what to put on the surface and wondered if anyone had any experience in it.

I have a rather large back garden (reason why we brought the house) and have plenty of grass already, so we were looking for something different. We also have a 1yo girl who will very soon be walking - and already loves being out in the garden.
I stumbled apon this bonded rubber mulch, basically shredded tyres which you mix with a bonding agent and then smooth over.

looking to cover an area of about 10sqM, best price so far i have had for 10sqM worth of rubber mulch (delivered) is £475.

Any tips / advice or suggestions of other surfaces?

    Cheers DF!

So it sets as a solid (but soft/bouncy) surface? Just wondering as anything loose is likely to be used by local animals as a toilet.

Yea, just like a playground. You can leave in textured or smooth it over with a soapy trowel.

We have the loose stuff over a much larger area. The cats don't seem to like it but over a small defined area like that I'd go bonded as the loose will move around.

    Thanks to flipper321

Yeah, even just to stop it spreading you'd def want it bonded together.

    Thanks to blacksheep

    How about rubber bark-style chippings?
Where I work we make some discs for a company that grind rubber parts into powder/granules for the moulding industry. Had a visit to them one day a couple of years ago and they were just formulating the colour and texture for the shreddings. This must be the kind of thing they were developing.

    CLICK ~£105 delivered for 10sqM

No affiliation and I'm sure there's others selling. The above is just a site from a google search.

Looks like they also do the playground stuff too.

    Thanks to chizh

Thanks chizh, but no mention if it can be bonded, think that is a must for me now.
