I think I will prepare and lube a VAG 2x2 lead. No chance they are getting a Merc 38 pin up me

In all seriousness, it's funny the amount of parallels I was drawing from their world to ours. Every test they've done on me I understood what they would be looking for before they actually told me.

Part of me really doesn't envy their job as the stakes are so high, but on the flip side if the average garage had access to the level of specialised kit a hospital has, I bet parts wouldn't get changed unnecessarily as often happens as a process of elimination.

I've often thought the same, and how much easier it must be to work on the same model, with all the same parts in the same places. No random black box with no numbers but wires disappearing under the dash or a fuse box upgrade with new lay out in the same car only 6 months newer, moved the fuse to the washer pump and now that's under the bonnet. People's bits are always where they should be.
There's alot of similarities to be drawn.

you say that but knowing a few dr's it's really not the case - yeah you'll get easy ones with symptoms that you've seen before and is probably that thing but not always. Not going to say any more on this thread as I want to keep it positive and keep sending my thoughts and best wishes.

I keep my fingers crossed for you, hopefully they've caught it early enough that the prognosis is good.

In terms of parallels to the auto world, it is remarkable that a brief cognitive slip gave you early enough warning to seek medical advice and now get treatment. You could have just soldiered on, dismissing it as tiredness, residual intoxicants etc... Being a bloke I did the same through a year's worth of back twinges until eventually two discs ruptured and I was rushed to hospital in Feb in unimaginable pain, completely paralysed and needing morphine.

Tbh, I knew that garbled speech was a tell tale sign of stroke. When it happened for 2-3 mins I just thought it was a blip in the system but when it happened same day for more like 20-30 mins I knew something was wrong.

Also I related the symptoms to systems I understand in better detail (car electrics) and thought in that scenario either the ECU (my brain) isn't getting enough power, the ECU itself has a problem, or it would be with the data link (neurons). The fact it was only speech to me ruled out the endpoint (mouth/throat/tongue muscles)

When I posted here I was hoping loads of people would say it was nothing major and it had happened to them just to reassure me it was nothing worth bothering about.

Many thanks to my online family for telling me not to be stupid about this otherwise I might have just chanced it hoping I was worrying about nothing.

Nurse and pharmacist have said I may be sent home (maybe with medication) later today but it totally depends on the test results and opinion of specialist(s).

7 Thanks given to Over Carl
