Thanks for reply, it installs and I start wizard / language = English then it asks for details of my server then crashes -> now resolved.
sorry to be a pain but I am also having trouble with seeing it from my pc - remote desktop works but I cannot see it in network to drop files in.
    Many thanks

Can you ping the hostname or IP from another PC? Have you tried accessing it in explorer by going to \\IPADDRESS ? Is your network set to Home or Work in network and sharing centre?

Can you try enabling network discovery? If it fails to turn on try this:

In sure there was a bios update that fixed this.

    Hi M8
I am sorry I cannot answer this yet as I installed Win Server 2012 R2 on my new Server which is a £85 (net from cashback) Dell Poweredge T20 from Servers plus, now this is all up and running with Plex, Couch potato, Sonarr and SABnzbd - only issue was I couldnt get headphones to run.
My lovely Gen 8 Microserver (with Xeon E3 1220L v2) is now stripped down and EXSi on microSD on mainboard - now cannot make up my mind what to do.

    Hi
OK, Want to try windows server 2012 R2, i have dvd and licence, Load it, put key in and it sees drives but when I try to install on those drives it says I cannot - please help or do I have to stick with UNRAID?
I have rebooted this now at least 100 times and spend last three weekend trying to get O/S to load, from internal dvd drive, external usb DVD, a USB flash drive - using the B120i with driver, using AHCI, to a 2TB drive, booting to USB or using intellegent provisioning - I have reached end of tether with it and put in cupboard before the sledge hammmer comes out(actually smashed up a keyboard today).

    Hi
It was sole O/S and was trying to instal win server 2012 r2 but even loading drivers every drive (one was 2TB) said windows could not be loaded on. Thank you for your response, and I hope you didnt get too muddy at Glasto, but after rebooting about 200 times with different setting I completely lost the rag, bought UNRAID and installed that .

P.S. would however be interested in what I had done wrong

Had you formatted the drives? Sometimes I find a new drive has to be formatted for Windows to install. Had you tried using different installation media? Sometimes USB installs are a problem but a disc will work.

    Thanks to evilsatan

And you formatted the disk? I boot to Gparted or something like that and then format it as the inbuilt format on the Windows installer doesn't do the job.
