Default Xtrend ET8000 digital quad satellite box

Just upgraded to this Quad Combi sat box.

Very high specs for the money and has cable and sat tuners.

World of Satellite will prob be doing these on special offer as of monday.

Even at normal price they are good boxes.

    http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/...-1x-DVB-C-T-T2

Box is vert fast, remote is ace and has great support and images.

Got mine for £180 delivered for the sat and cable version.

These multi tuner boxes are nice mate, I picked up one of the Xpeed LX3s that WoS had on offer this week and have been playing around with that since.

That remote looks nice though - the LX3 remote I thought was the same as the XP1000 I have here until I tried using it and the range is nowhere near as good so I'm going to have a go with the Pronto editor over the weekend as it's doing my head in!

I wanted the LX3 but had sold out before i placed my order but i think the ET8000 is better for me for cable and sat.(wasn't the LX3 only sat??)
I was sick of poor remotes and this thing operates my Sony plasma too so happy days as they say.

These have a faster CPU than the Zgemma's mate - they're using a single core 750Mhz whereas these are dual core 1.3Ghz so everything just feels quicker plus plugins etc are faster.

My cable tuners for the LX3 turned up today so I've got one of those fitted with 3 sat tuners at the moment and love it.

I wanted the hardware transcoding features so nearly went for the ET10000 but the 8000 is also a nice box just missing that.

If you use the remote stream plugin you could have remote boxes wherever and then have them pulling bouquets and the raw channels straight from the master box - I took an XP1000 up to the other half's house and use it as a slave to my LX3 master.

I've also got a Zgemma Star 2S to take to the in-laws place this weekend to let them have a play with it

The pros are extra speed and the ability to take an internal hard disk plus optical audio out which you're missing on the Zgemma (or at least the 2s)

    Thanks to reverend

I would love to hear about the Cable tuner's sensitivity on the ET8000 especially when placed in a line array with other VM products connected such as Tivo and superhub just to see how sensitive the tuners are as the Zgemma H1's samsung cable tuner is very sensitive indeed

When you say it's sensitive. do you mean it can't pick up some channels or the opposite?

I have the cable and sat ET8000 and sadly no VM in my current place.

As for being a step up, the Zgemma is ace for £70 but like others say, the extra cpu power makes a night and day difference.

No i mean its exactly the opposite it can pick up channels that some of the other Plug and Play receivers cannot, I have the Gigablue Quad Plus here and have had a Solo2 and Duo2 so i know about the speed but these days a £200 - £300 box is no good if the tuners supplied are not up to the job.

The Zgemma H1 i have is slightly better sensitivity wise than the Gigablue if i add more components into the mix say Tivo,Superhub etc...

Not had an Xtrend since the 9000 & 9200 days so was looking at one of these the triple tuner 8000 just to have a play and gauge it's Cable and Satellite capability Tuner wise anyway

The Zgemma s2 i had could not pick up BT sports that well, but i would put that down to the communal sat feed.

I don't see anyone complain about the Xtrend tuners tbh .

I think the ET8k and 10k use Samsung tuners for both satellite and cable - I'm not sure but I think I read the Zgemma boxes use Samsung tuners too. Whether they're the same spec though I don't know.

Actually after writing that I did my first config on a Zgemma Star 2S at the inlaws and it uses one Broadcom tuner (BCM7346) same as the XP1000 and the other is an AVL6211 - I've not heard of those before but a quick search shows they've been in the Vu boxes before.
